New Year 2008 Ride

Well the party at church the nite b4 was simply great. Everyone had a great time enjoying the performances and Daniel's special video. LAst scene was the best! My head coming in.......kepoh oni. Kekeke. Finish time 2.30am.

I was considering riding all the way to genting sempah today (1/1/2008). But so late sleep i wonder i can wake up or be fit enuf to climb.

I woke up at last. Tho few hours of sleep still can manage.

So got up at 6.50. Prepared all. Gone in like 15 minits.

Today i was thinking of climbing up Genting abit.......maybe to Gohtong Jaya. BUt i said lets tackle Sempah first. And i tot i was gona do it alone. Since no one teman me. But i knew there will be cyclist going up n down Sempah since its a holiday.

Going tru Danau Kota, Gombak n UIA then i enter the stretch where Genting Sempah road begins. suddenly saw a cyclist so i caught up with him. Greeted n chatted. Mr Jamil from Melawati. So we stop to have some milo while waiting for some of his frends to join. Didnt turn up so we went our own. At least i wasnt alone now. Starting the gradual ascend up (gradual as in 1-2% gradient), it was getting cooler. And we rode side by side chatting abt ourselves. Then we caught two mountain bikers tat started earlier. Greeted n passed them. The last time i went as far as 19km from start. Genting sempah is abt 25km end to end. So just the extra 6km shudnt be TOO bad......rite?

Anyway after th19km mark i was on new roads i haven ridden. They are narrow and scarily enuf, on my left is the ravine..........i look down at the tree trunks and they just keep going down.......and down........and down.........man......tats scary. And the road so narrow. It got significantly cooler. MY water even became cool like from a fridge.

By this time it was about 9++am. Mr Jamil was left behind so i tot i go ahead first. The roads are super winding and still going up. It never went down. I was in my smallest gear ratio and kept a steady 15-18kmh pace. Some points the road went UP steeper so had to really push it to the max. Kaki oso almost want to break oledi.

My meter showed 24km.....not too far to go. Kept climbing. And i can hear the highway down.........DOWN. Some parts u can see the highway tru the trees. The cars were like ants and i was so HIGH up! I got the jitters. And i was so surprised i climb up this high. I didnt knw wat was my elavation. BUt it was certainly high up here. I can see the hills all around me with clouds moving. It got colder and colder wit elevation. And strong winds prevailed.

Funny enough suddenly i had this prayer : God, dont let the monkeys chase me n bite me.

A few more meters up i saw 4 monkeys. 2 babies n 2 elders (obviously mum n dad). And they were not pleasant to see me n jumped right on my tail for a while. I remained emotionless n kept pedaling. Thank God for tat prayer! I then realised they were aggressive coz my mouth was wide open and my teeth showed. Showing teeth is a sign of aggression in monkey land........ :P

My meter said 26km and i still havent seen the McD rest stop that im suppose to see on the map on Google Earth the nite b4. Kept pedaling more. Along the way saw some other cyclist going down. And another guy overtook me suddenly....with great effortlessness......sienz.

NOt too long ahead i see shops n huts : Signs of civilization! I must be near to the pit stop. And the highway got nearer to me. NOt tat i came down. The highway came up as well.

Then i went downhill a bit and infront i see this huge place. Makan place/McD/PEtronas stop. Phew! I made it all the way up here. ITs so nice up there. The clouds were so low, it was windy n cold and the place is lovely! Waited quite a bit for MR Jamil but didtn see him. I was thinking he double back coz he said got appointment. So i took a short rest.

Then by the highway i heard this loud rumble. Unmistakably Harley rumble. And there were like 10 bikes roaring. Turns out they want to Genting. To go u have to exit the Karak highway and enter to the flyover which is where i rested around. So long i havent see a group this big. Was lucky to see them. I was tired and i really tink Genting had to be postponed.

So i turn around to head down.

Saw some other cyclist also. Traffic for bicycles today looked heavy.

Then i saw two cyclist sitting under the flyover.....and one i recognised straight away. Syaaban from Way2Ride team. Its a group i been following up on their forums. So hes the first guy from there tat i met. sat down had a nice chat. WAited for other riders tat followed him. Then we went back all the way down.

This is also my first time i descend for long distance and at speed. I wondered how they went down so fast. So i tried to keep up but to my abilities. Went down at 40kmh......48in certain places and then taking all those corners like pro......hehehe. Finally i get to try come cornering n descending skills which i never had to try. Its cool yet needs to be done withing the limits. But i was ok. Can take the pace. And it took us 20 minits to reach all the way down as opposed to 1hr going up.........zzzz

So after that went for minum with Syaaban for a while then went home.

total distace : 61km
i later found out Genting Sempah is abt 500 meters in elevation and i bet i was at leat 200 meters above the highway!

This was a good way to start the new year. Cycling up somewhere so nice.

More stories of my riding trips to come!

How much He loves u.......no matter what happens.

Take a look at this video. Watch it with an open heart to learn something.

The guy was Jesus. The girl represents us. Life, as many troubles as it seems to have, no matter what happens to us, no matter what we do, He still loves us.

We are blocked from seeing Jesus, mostly by ourselves and things of the world. Yet He is hard pressing to reach you in almost every way.

It just takes your heart and your decision. When u are fed up of life, Jesus was never fed up with you.

He has just been waiting patiently all this while.

I Believe

I heard story just the other day,
About man who gave his life away for me
Complicated yet it seems so clear
If I open up my heart, it be so near to me
I believe in you
I believe in you

I heard story just the other day,
About man who gave his life away for me
Complicated yet seems so clear
If I open up my heart, it be so near to me

I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe your word as set me free
with all that I am
I will live my life for you
I believe

I read a story just the other day
About the way you healed blind man, made him say
Here I stand crying out to you
all i need is faith to see a miracle in me

I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe your word as set me free
with all that I am
I will live my life for you

I believe in you
I believe in you
I believe your word as set me free
with all that I am
I will live my life for you

I believe in
I believe in
I believe in you

I believe in
I believe in

What YOU need to know.

I was recently hit by many of these questions : How do i pray to God?

well for those who DONT know this is a good place for a start.

To tell you the truth, there is no where on earth that says ONLY Christians can pray to God.

The fact is : God was not made for Christians, God made all of us for HIM! This is the truth.

So it is rightful that everyone can pray to Him

Prayer to God does not need ANYTHING accept u come to Him and sit down before Him and tell Him your hearts content. Prayer is not a religious thing. It is a personal communication between you and God alone. It is meant to be secret, intimate, sweet and a wonderful thing. Its more wonderful than talking to your gf/bf or ur fav idol.

U dont necessarily need to kneel down (but u can if u want), offer God food or gifts (He wont want them), or say long soothing sweet words (its more of an insult than being sincere).

What God wants when u pray is just YOU alone and your hearts content.

If u feel angry at God, tell Him ur angry at Him. If u want to cry before Him, do so. If u want to protest against God, be His guest. God wants ALL of your hearts sincere contents. The more u share with Him the more closer u get to Him. Much like friends that share everything between each other, so can u with God. Heres a bonus : God does not reveal ur secrets if u tell Him!

Many also ask who to pray to? God, Jesus, Holy Spirit? Anyone will do. Why? They are from the same origin of God. God has a spirit and His Holy Spirit is also the same as Him, but the Holy Spirit is our helper. Jesus is also God but He came to earth as a man to die for all our sins. Therefore Jesus was God on earth who died for YOU. God died for YOU!

So why not start a conversation with God today? He has been waiting all YOUR life for you to open your mouth to talk to Him.

-God Bless-

Its about Him.

Why Him again? LOL. Simple.

Ask yourself this question : What is my purpose on earth?

Can u give YOURSELF the answer? Can you be definitely sure that what you think your purpose is IS what it is?

You cant. You can never be sure what your purpose is even you think deeply within ur own mind. How come? Simple.

YOU did not create YOURSELF, therefore you dont know your purpose.

An inventor creates or invents something with a purpose. So we did not create ourselves how can we know our real purpose? Im not talking about eat sleep and multiply. Im talking big here.

We always look at ourselves. Self focus self centered. My ambition, my career, my dreams. Its nothing wrong. But that is not the center or purpose of your life. U may succeed and have fulfilled your goals and dreams but if you missed your purpose in life, it isnt much of a purposeful life either. You will still feel something empty.

Which brings me back to Him, God the Creator. He created you and me therefore He knows our purpose. So how do we know our purpose? ASK GOD! God made you for a purpose , NOT God was made for your purpose!

The very source of your life was from Him in the beginning.

Still wondering why Him?

Until you know His purpose for your life and tat you were made by Him and for Him, life will always seem meaningless and pointless to you. Until you fully understand this, you will be always wandering in the dessert alone thirsty and lost. Until you stop assuming and believing by your own view of life and rather look at Gods plans realizing the more important TRUTH that God is everything you need, you will not have a purposeful life.

Life lived purposefully is more meaningful.

Think about it. What is your purpose.

Life without God is meaningless.

If you were once in the dark about your purpose life, now is the best time to walk into the light.

Bye Bye Sora

In Japanese the word sora means to fly away or fly high or something like tat it seems. And no better description for my bike parts which are about to fly (literally) across the ocean to its new owner in Labuan.

I sold my bike's Shimano groupset to a nice gentleman. Im upgrading. Haha. but still looking for my parts. So before i can buy anything, i better get some cash in hand first.

Anyway for u ordinary folks out there who dont knw wats a groupset look like, heres a short education on it with pic.

Clockwise from top left :

1. Right hand brake lever/STI Shifter
2. Left hand brake/STI Shifter
3. Rear brake calipers
4. Front brake calipers
5. Cranks - chain ring arm
6. Crank left arm
7. Rear deraileur
8. Cassette
9. Front deraileur

No 1 & 2 are the brakes n shifters incorporated into one unit. This was pioneered by Shimano and made it popular coz shifting n braking can be done with out moving ur arms. Just push the levers inwards and u will shift. Pull it backwards and u brake.

No 3 & 4 the brake calipers. NO explanation what they do here. They just BRAKE!

N0 5 is the crank chainring. Its called so coz it a big ring and the chain goes around it. DUH! Road bikes use a typical 52 teeth for the big ring and 39 for the smaller rings. And typical setup is just 2 rings to save weight. There are 3 rings if u wana do hills, but we rather stick to 2 and train our legs. We road bikes want light bikes n parts. ^^

No 6 is the opposite crank arm for the left side of the bike.

No 7 is the deraileur. Many ppl mistake by calling it gears. It the component tat shifts your chain up and down the cassette or chain ring. This is the rear one so it shifts for the cassette.

No 8 is the cassette or some refer as sprockets. This also is wrongly addressed as gears. Todays modern and new designs have a 10 speed rear cassette. Which means u have 10 gears to select behind. That is alot. My old set uses 8 only. So what difference does it make? Alot in terms of gear choice and gear ratio. So between these 8/9/10 speed cassettes, the teeth count is between 11T - 25T. Mine uses 11T - 23T.

No 9 is the front deraileur to shift the chain on the chain rings.

This is a racing bike groupset and its the lowest model of the Shimano tree. U cannot put this on a mountain bike. Retails around RM600-RM800. The highest end (Dura Ace) will set u back RM3900. Why so expensive? Simple. Pay for technology and material.

So this whole bunch of parts will go to its new owner soon. Will courier it to him. And now i will wait for my 9 speed groupset *patiently*. hope it comes fast coz i cant ride now. Haha.

God Bless me wit a new groupset! Amen.

I will miss u. Thank you for everything!

I went riding today. The weather looked fine. After 4pm class i just had the urge to ride. Kaki suda manyak gatal. hahaha. so i got home suited up and rode out at 4.30. reason so early is to avoid traffic jams. i dun worry much abt the sun, i worry more abt traffic.

So as i got out suddenly it started to drizzle and yet the sun was out. I didnt care. Just rode. Manage to escape it in the end.

Today i wanted to try the route to genting sempah (25km one way) to see how nice the roads are. After some time spent on Google Earth to find out the route i finally got my bearings. Google earth seriously has helped me alot on KL travel. Haha

Exiting danau kota then i was on a short highway b4 i reach some modern kampung roads. was a really nice place as i rode along. my target was to ride 15km one way then 15 back. And after i rode further n further i was almost in the middle of the forest. This route goes tru a windy narrow path to genting sempah, genting highlands and also bentong, pahang (abt 45km away). But i just cycled as far as i can b4 u-turn home. And then......it just had to drizzle. from km10 onwards i was greeted with water drops.

Not to mention the small incline reduced my speed to 20 kmh.

On another note, this is the first ride i do with my new Mavic wheels in full riding use. Its a really nice wheelset to ride. I feel the lightness now. Steering is quicker and response is faster. Everytime i get up n sprint the wheels just goes along and obeys all my directions. Its a really fun wheelset to ride on.

So now i was doing 20kmh for abt 5 more km. so my meter stopped at 15 and i decided to u turn back since i saw some grey clouds. the drizzle got a little heavier. So i made the shallow decent. I didnt pedal, just freewheel for the next 3km, whis is amazing. haha. Along the twisty roads with a few hairpins. Then along the way i saw another rider alone. Greeted him and continued our separate ways. his bike was cool though. I tink it was a cervelo. Lol

Anyways, as i reach flat road, i saw infront of me a monster cloud. it was big black and ugly. i was sure i will have to endure the rain later. But i tried to beat it. So i pounded the pedals as hard as i can. Did 37kmh at certain places. pushed real hard. then suddenly i get a mixture of crosswinds and headwinds from the storm clouds. If u wanna knw wat tat feels like. U ride at 37kmh then have some one push ur wheels side to side and push u backwards. its not tat scary, just challenging to get ur wheels to go straight.

AS as i reach the outskirts of the kampung to the town area of Gombak, the rain fell. And i was riding into a monster. Slowly things got more wet. me the bike the road. now my mind was to get home as safe as i can. I continued riding in the heavy rain while other motorcyclist took refuge under the bus stops. they might think i am crazy. but well, i still continued.

now one thing riding in the rain NOT usinfg those cool shades is water gets into your eyes. And i dreaded for almost 30minits. water plus sweat plus hair gel in my eyes and i had to watch the road. Had to constantly wipe my eyes pedaling at 24kmh in the rain.

had to make my self noticable to traffic. So i took alot of road. its better to let drivers see u then to suddenly find u. at one point i had to avoid the bussed taking and letting go passengers.

So finally i reached danau kota again, and the rain lightened. I pedaled slowly home after tat , drenched but wit a nice experience anyway. haha. memories.

another day another ride.

So whats the thanks and missing all about?

Well, i sold off my old wheelset to a nice guy. gave him offer RM100 for my pair of wheels. Those wheels served me for 3 yrs n 3300km. went tru almost all with me. Gona miss tat set. Hand sprayed some more. The graphics tat i made myself. hehe. Hope to see it on its new owners bike. Take care my wheelsets. till we ride again.
